How a Love for Stories Became a Website
Hello! I'm so glad you're here. Parker Books started because I wanted something—a place, really—to showcase my creativity and my absolute love for books. I've always been someone who gets lost in stories, both reading them and writing them. There's something magical about the way words can transport you, make you feel things, help you see the world differently. I didn't just want to keep that magic to myself.
Why I Created This Space
I created this website because I wanted my students to have a place where they could buy books that feel different. Books that have unique voices. Books that are self-published but don't look self-published—you know what I mean? Professional, polished, done with care and attention. I wanted to bring together people who appreciate stories that might not come from the big publishing houses but are still absolutely brilliant. Stories that celebrate the quirky, the unusual, the wonderfully unique things about being a child. Whether it's a boy who loves lightbulbs or a girl who finds a magical door, these are the kinds of stories I believe deserve a place on bookshelves.
What Parker Books Is All About
Parker Books is a tiny independent imprint. And I mean tiny. It's essentially my sister and I, staying up too late, formatting pages, designing covers, and pouring love into every detail. Our mission is simple: create beautiful books that inspire young minds whilst maintaining high standards, even on small budgets. We work with a story-first mindset. The narrative always comes first. Everything else—the design, the layout, the illustrations—serves the story. We create clear designs that enhance the reading experience, not distract from it. We edit carefully so nothing feels sloppy or unfinished. Every book is crafted with genuine love and attention to detail. Because children deserve that. They deserve books that respect their intelligence and spark their imaginations.
What Makes Us Different
Honestly? We care deeply about the stories we tell and the way we tell them. We're not churning out books on a production line. Each one is a labour of love. Each one has a reason for existing. Whether it's celebrating a real student's passion for lightbulbs or creating a collaborative project with an entire school, our books come from real inspiration and real care. We believe in unique voices. We believe self-published can mean professionally crafted. And we believe that small budgets shouldn't mean compromising on quality.
What's Coming Next
I'm excited about what's ahead for Parker Books. We're growing our catalogue with more finished books, ebook editions for those who prefer digital reading, printable classroom packs for teachers who want to use our stories in their lessons, and even limited prints for those special collectors. There will be more behind-the-scenes content too—because I've learned that people love seeing how books come to life, mishaps and all. (Trust me, there are always mishaps.)
