The Lightbulb Boy
Sandra Parker
Clark has a fascination with lightbulbs.
Big ones, small ones, bright ones, dim ones, if it glows, flickers or flashes, Clark wants to know everything about it. He collects them, studies them and talks about them whenever he gets the chance, even when nobody else is quite as interested.
The other pupils at Cedartree School find Clark rather strange. He does not always understand why. After all, what could possibly be more interesting than a lightbulb?
Clark can also be a bit of a menace. He is not always trying to be naughty; sometimes he genuinely wants to help. Unfortunately, his bright ideas have a habit of causing confusion, creating chaos and making everything much worse. Wherever Clark goes, trouble never seems to be far behind.
So when he is placed in charge of the lighting for the school play, it could finally be his chance to prove that his unusual obsession is useful after all. The actors are rehearsing, the teachers are busy preparing and everyone is expecting the performance to go exactly as planned.
But on the night of the show, something goes terribly wrong.
With the whole school counting on him and time quickly running out, Clark has one of his ideas.
It is unusual.
It is unexpected.
And it might just be brilliant.
Will Clark save the performance and prove everybody wrong?
Or will the Lightbulb Boy cause his biggest disaster yet?
Funny, warm and filled with school-day mischief and unexpected chaos, The Lightbulb Boy is a story about creativity, good intentions and an unusual boy who might be exactly what Cedartree School needs.
